Introduction to Ireland’s Manufacturing Sector

Ireland’s manufacturing activity has seen a significant boost, with the sector growing at its fastest pace in over three years. This growth is a notable achievement, especially considering the concerns surrounding global trade. The manufacturing sector has not only maintained its momentum but has also expanded, creating new jobs and increasing purchasing activity.

Key Drivers of Growth

The AIB Ireland Manufacturing Purchasing Managers’ Index (PMI) rose to 53.7 from 52.6 in May, indicating a strong expansion in the sector. This increase is attributed to a sharp rise in employment, with job creation reaching its highest level since June 2022. Companies are hiring more staff to meet growing workloads and to support long-term expansion plans. Additionally, purchasing activity has surged, with firms aiming to rebuild inventories amid rising demand and longer supplier delivery times.
