Introduction to Shivamogga District Cooperative Central Bank
Shivamogga District Cooperative Central (DCC) Bank president R.M. Manjunath Gowda said the bank has taken many initiatives, including opening new branches, to offer hassle-free services to its over 3.5 lakh customers across the district.
Expansion and Growth
Speaking to the media after releasing the bank’s calendar for the year 2026, Mr. Gowda said that the bank opened eight new branches, increasing the total number of branches to 36. Another 14 branches will be opened in the coming year, taking the number to 50 before 2028, the year when the bank will celebrate its platinum jubilee.
Services and Features
The bank, he said, has been known for providing services on par with commercial banks. It launched Kisan credit cards as early as 1999. “Soon, we will be introducing Immediate Payment Service (IMPS) and UPI-based transactions so that customers in rural areas need not visit the branches,” he said.
Loan Disbursement and Performance
The president said the bank had disbursed a crop loan of ₹1,300 crore to 1.2 lakh customers. Besides that, it provided loans worth ₹160 crore to 3,488 self-help groups in the district. The non-performing assets of the bank are less than 1%. The annual transaction reached ₹3,700 crore, and the bank secured an A-grade for its operations from National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD).
Conclusion
In conclusion, Shivamogga DCC Bank has been taking significant steps to expand its services and provide hassle-free banking experiences to its customers. With its plans to introduce new services and open more branches, the bank is poised to continue its growth and success in the future. The bank’s commitment to providing services on par with commercial banks and its focus on rural areas make it a vital institution for the local community.
