Empowering Women Entrepreneurs in Pakistan

The State Bank of Pakistan has announced that commercial banks in the country have provided over Rs. 24 billion in financing to more than 20,000 women-led businesses. This significant milestone marks a major improvement in financial inclusion and demonstrates the growing confidence of women entrepreneurs in the banking system.

Reaching Out to Women Entrepreneurs

To achieve this milestone, the State Bank of Pakistan conducted over 50 outreach sessions, meeting with around 1,500 women business owners through SME Baithaks, mentorship circles, awareness workshops, and business development drives. These sessions helped women understand credit rules and business opportunities in a clear and practical way, empowering them to make informed decisions about their businesses.

Expanding Outreach Efforts

The central bank plans to expand its outreach efforts, aiming to cover over 50 districts in the coming phase. This expanded effort will enable thousands of new women entrepreneurs to learn how to secure loans, manage finances, and scale their enterprises. By opening new paths for growth and strengthening local business networks, the State Bank hopes to create a more inclusive and supportive environment for women in business.

Celebrating Women Entrepreneurs

The State Bank has also highlighted the strong performance of women-led ventures, which have shown creativity, resilience, and steady commitment in various industries. Women entrepreneurs have brought new ideas, created jobs, and supported long-term productivity, contributing to the country’s competitiveness and encouraging healthier entrepreneurship. To recognize their achievements, the central bank will celebrate Pakistan Women Entrepreneurship Day on December 3, 2025, with 16 field offices hosting special events to honor women business owners.

Supporting Women Entrepreneurs

Commercial banks across Pakistan will also run their own programs until December 5, showcasing women innovators, business founders, and job creators. These events aim to motivate more women to step into the business world and take advantage of financial support. Banks will guide new entrepreneurs on digital tools, credit products, and business planning, providing them with the necessary resources to succeed.

Conclusion

The State Bank of Pakistan’s efforts to empower women entrepreneurs mark a significant step towards creating a more inclusive financial ecosystem. By providing financing, outreach, and support, the central bank hopes to deepen the role of women entrepreneurs in national growth and create stronger business pathways. As the country continues to support and celebrate women in business, it is likely that we will see even more innovative and successful women-led ventures emerge, driving progress and prosperity in Pakistan.
